Event Description:

EDUCATING MINNESOTA: Why we can't keep failing our kids

Minnesota is flunking a series of important tests. Our achievement gap is among the worst in the nation, and too many of our students are falling behind. Yet our education policies fail to address what students need to succeed.  It’s time for Minnesotans to work together and demand the reforms needed to ensure success for our kids.

Join us in welcoming Michelle Rhee, founder and CEO of StudentsFirst, and Kati Haycock, president, The Education Trust, as well as other education advocates, as we make the case for advancing common-sense solutions that will fix problems in the system and create opportunities for all Minnesotans.

Additional national and state education advocates joining us for panel discussions on the urgent need to improve student achievement include: Aimee Guidera, Data Quality Campaign; Amy Hertel, Education Transformation Initiative; George Parker, StudentsFirst; R.T. Rybak, Generation Next; Suzanne Tacheny-Kubach, PIE Network; Kate Walsh, National Council on Teacher Quality.
